Dr. Vandad Yousefi

Vandad Yousefi is a hospitalist at Vancouver General Hospital. Upon receiving his medical degree from the University of British Columbia in 2004, he moved to Calgary to complete his family medicine residency where he received the Outstanding Resident Award for his efforts on improving the educational curriculum. After completing his training he started work in various urban and rural communities. Vandad moved to Toronto in 2007 where he joined Lakeridge Health and soon became heavily involved in various aspects of the hospitalist program.

In 2008, Vandad became a member of the Medical Advisory Committee of Lakeridge Health as the Physician Lead – Quality. In this position he was responsible for engaging the medical staff, and developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives across various departments. Over time his role evolved to that of Department Chief and Medical Director for Quality, Safety and Patient Experience. He also founded the Ontario Physician Quality Network, a group of physician quality and safety leaders from across Ontario.

In 2012 Vandad moved back to Vancouver, British Columbia, to be closer to his family. He joined the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council in 2013 as the Clinical Lead for VTE, and in 2016 he became the Regional Department Head for Hospital Medicine at Fraser Health (the largest Health Authority in British Columbia).

Vandad is also the co-founder and CEO of Hospitalist Consulting Solutions Inc, the first Canadian healthcare consulting company specializing in developing and optimizing inpatient care programs.
